Flower Guard Books

Welcome to the online home of work created by Andi Dawson. Here you’ll find a world of colour and imagination, where cute characters fill the page and show off the wonderful diversity of everyday life.

Andi’s illustrations are carefully created to engage even the youngest viewer . Her writing focuses on friendship, problem solving and fun and the majority of her books are written in rhyme to encourage a love of language and promote early reading for pleasure.

S’mae, sut wyt ti?

My other half is Welsh, born and bred in Wrexham, North Wales. For a number of years I have said that I would love to learn Welsh, but you know how it goes, there are never enough hours in the day. Until recently.

Over the last 153 days (as of today, 12/11/19), I have completed Welsh lessons every day on a Duolingo app on my phone. It is quick, but it is hard, very hard;to train my brain to something new aged, well, the age that I am is tricky to say the least. However, a little each day is building to be more than I ever thought I’d manage.

The reason I’m telling you this is because my most recent publication, Red’s Rainbow, a tale of Red finding his place in the world, is going to be my first ever Welsh language book and I am thrilled beyond belief. I won’t pretend that I was able to translate it all on my own, as I most certainly could not have done that. However, I did as much as I could and my other half did the rest.

I’m not entirely sure how to promote such a thing, same as I’m never truly sure how to promote any new book, but I’ll do my best and ask that my WordPress, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter followers do their best to let their family and friends know that my books are now multi-lingual!

Others to follow soon, I hope.
