Video killed the radio star…

…but it launched the Story Lady of Flower Guard Books, so it’s not all bad eh?

No clue what I’m talking about? Well, years ago I set up a YouTube channel for Flower Guard Books, threw together some rather poor attempts at video using converted Powerpoints and hoped that they would go viral. They did not…shocker!

After my overnight success didn’t happen, I cast the YouTube channel aside and turned my attention elsewhere, but recently while lying awake in the middle of the night as I often do, an idea of how to improve my storytime videos hit me and I knew it was time to use the channel rather than lose it and so, the Story Lady of Flower Guard Books came out!

Now, the Story Lady has actually been around since about 2018, as when I first started doing Storytime and Craft workshops a few little ones would call me the Story Lady and I must say, I loved the title. It reminded me of the film You’ve Got Mail, as Meg Ryan’s bookstore owning character is referred to as ‘the Story Lady’ and I remember thinking at the time of watching that I would love to own a bookshop and deliver storytime events like that.

Anyway, I’m rambling…the point is, my passion for reading my books aloud to a proper audience has returned, but until I can figure out a way to fit in my workshops again, I thought doing the storytimes online might work well in the meantime.

The plan, at this moment in time, is to upload a new storytime video every week or two. I haven’t decided on an exact time scale yet, as I suppose it will be determined by how quickly I can record and edit all of my stories.

I really enjoyed recording my first video I must say and I’m all pleased with the opening spiel that I’m going to use for each storytime…that’s the bit that popped into my head on the night I decided to revive the channel. It’s daft, but it’s me, so I do hope people like it.

Anyway, even waffling on. If you’re intrigued to meet the Story Lady, or reintroduce yourself if you’ve met her before, please pop over to the Flower Guard Books’ YouTube channel by clicking right here and let me know what you think!
