Flower Guard Books

Welcome to the online home of work created by Andi Dawson. Here you’ll find a world of colour and imagination, where cute characters fill the page and show off the wonderful diversity of everyday life.

Andi’s illustrations are carefully created to engage even the youngest viewer . Her writing focuses on friendship, problem solving and fun and the majority of her books are written in rhyme to encourage a love of language and promote early reading for pleasure.

Welcome to my brain I suppose…sorry it’s a bit of a mess, but there’s a lot going on…

  • Can you see me? Hear me? Do you even know I’m here?

I just typed that title, and as I did my brain immediately thought, that’s a good opener for a poem…I’ll save that for later. For now, I’m here because I feel the need to vent. I just posted a reel on Instagram with my weekly intentions, as I find that helps me keep focused as…

  • It’s Monday and I’m child-free!

I’m sat at my laptop, windows open, a cuppa in front of me and the sound of the birds tweeting in the garden, interrupted only by the whirr of the washing machine on a spin cycle and my fingers tapping the keyboard. BLISS! I adore my children and partner, and would walk through hell and…

Over the last few weeks I’ve had the absolute pleasure of attending two Christmas craft fairs, one for the Hornsea section of the Women’s Institute and the other at Hornsea Nursery School. As well as taking my beloved children’s books which sold so well, I also took some beautifully crafted items made by me, my…

  • It’s that time of year again…

In 2013 an American craze swept through the UK. The Elf on the Shelf story book and plastic elf doll appeared in shops everywhere and suddenly the nation’s parents and carers were catapulted into a nightly frenzy of coming up with weird and wonderful things to do with their elves in order to bring the…
