Did you know that there are over 30 children’s books and 2 adult poetry compilations available from Flower Guard Books?
All of Andi’s children’s books are aimed at pre-school and primary aged children, with a focus on strong values such as friendship, problem solving and most importantly finding fun and happiness.
The majority of her children’s stories are told in a rhyming style which helps early readers to recognise graphemes (letters) and language patterns using digraphs (two letters that make one sound) and trigraphs (three letters that make one sound). Building these language skills early on means that by the time a child is learning phonics at school they will already have a basic knowledge and understanding to improve upon.
It is a fact that encouraging a love of books and reading for pleasure from a very young age will improve any child’s ability to learn in a varied range of subjects as they grow and develop.
As world renowned author and illustrator Dr Seuss said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Some of Andi’s bestsellers…

A tale of friendship, falling out and fixing things, Stevie the Shark, is a cute story perfect for preschool children as well as those in EYFS and Year One. The stunning under-the-sea illustrations will provide even the youngest child with a way to engage with the story even if they can’t read it themselves.

Red’s Rainbow is a rhyming tale about how sometimes it’s difficult to know where you fit in, and it is best suited to younger listeners and readers who will enjoy the simple fingerprint bird illustrations. This book also has a Welsh translation, Enfys Coch.

Ruff’s Guide to Endangered Animals is one of Andi’s best non-fiction books. Featuring a top ten of critically endangered animals, Ruff explains why the animals are in danger and what we can all do to change our lives to help save theirs.

The Creature of Llynlas Forest
This book was first published in 2018 and is perfect for anyone needing to know that friendships come in all shapes, colours and sizes. The Creature of Llynlas Forest is a beautifully illustrated rhyming story, that begins the Creature series and introduces all of the characters. The whole series is best suited to children in EYFS and Key Stage One.

The Creature and Bird
The second book in the Creature series is set in the springtime and the blossoming trees form a lovely background to the story of why the Creature and Bird are friends. Children in EYFS and Key Stage one will find this rhyming story easy to engage with.

The Creature and Frog
The third book in the Creature series is this summertime story, The Creature and Frog. The friendship they share is based on their love of jumping and tells that even though they are different colours this makes no difference. EYFS and Key Stage One children will be able to improve their phonic knowledge with this rhyming story.

The Creature and Owl
The warm autumnal colours in the fourth book of the Creature series are inviting and calming and compliment the gentle, rhyming story of the unexpected friendship between the Creature and Owl. As with the other books in the series, this one is perfect for early readers in EYFS and Key Stage One.

The Creature and Hedgehog
The final book in the Creature series is set in the chilly winter months, with the friends playing their favourite game together and then settling down for Hedgehog to hibernate. The Creature and Hedgehog is a lovely way to finish the series and is also aimed at EYFS and Key Stage One children.

This Is Henry Boots
One of the few non-rhyming stories from Andi, this witty book is aimed at Key Stage Two children. The humorous tale of a young inventor, this book will help its reader to identify a problem and find a solution.

Henry Boots and the Bully
A follow up to This Is Henry Boots, this book finds Henry happy at home, but unhappy at school. As the title suggests, Henry now has to deal with a bully and his ingenius invention results in some silly scenes, as the young boy shows again that problem solving can be easy when you stop and think.

Pandemic Pooches
As Covid-19 dominated the news and caused Andi to isolate for a number of health reason, she wrote Pandemic Pooches. The book was written in response to seeing the family’s rescue greyhound, Maggie, all forlorn because she could no longer sneak up on the sofa, as everyone was in the house all of the time. Andi messaged friends and family to see if their dogs were showing any signs of being annoyed by their owners too, and Pandemic Pooches was born. This book is aimed at Key Stage 2 children, but the illustrations of these daft dogs are cute enough to engage younger readers and listeners.

Pandemic Pusscats
The ‘sister book’ of Pandemic Pooches, Pandemic Pusscats was written after Andi’s ‘cat’ friends insisted their animals were being affected by everyone being at home during lockdown too. This funny rhyming story is also aimed at Key Stage 2 children, but as with Pandemic Pooches, younger children who can be read to will love the tales of these quick-witted cats.

Counting Creatures
This counting book is perfect for preschool children, or those in EYFS who are just beginning to count and recognise numbers. The beautifully painted watercolour illustrations are married with simple rhyming text, creating a book which enables its listener/reader to count from one to ten and back again.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere!
This autumnal book was created after completing a ‘draw this in your style’ challenge on Instagram. Andi got the bug for creating a group of diverse characters and once she got to ten she didn’t know what to do with them. Finally, she wrote this rhyming book which counts from one to ten, helping to secure number recognition and touch counting for EYFS and Key Stage One children.

Presents, Presents Everywhere!
As the months ticked by from Halloween to Christmas Andi decided to use her diverse range of characters to do a rhyming Christmas story, again aimed at children in EYFS and Key Stage One.

The Name That Was Almost Missed
This pencil drawn and felt-tip pen coloured Christmas book was originally created as a private commission, but after a little tweaking was released for general sale. Aimed at EYFS and Key Stage One children, this rhyming story is a sweet tale about how Mrs Claus saves the day when she realises a name is missing from Santa’s list.

A Jolly Jurassic Christmas
A Jolly Jurassic Christmas was another private commission that was eventually released as a general publication. The story of a little boy who wishes for dinosaurs for Christmas is a rhyming story aimed at children in EYFS and Key Stage One.

Princess’s Magic Mirror
This lovely rhyming Christmas story, about a girl who imagines all that she can be after being told she can be anything she wants, is perfect for little ones in EYFS and Key Stage One.

Funny Bunny Colouring Book
Originally created as an alternative to chocolate eggs at Easter, this Funny Bunny Colouring Book features bold line drawings of cute fluffy bunnies and is great for any child who loves to colour.

The Dino Doodles Colouring Book
Inspired by dinosaur crayons made by Critter Crayons, this colouring book is a wonderful collection of line drawings suitable for any dino-mad child.
ADULT POETRY COLLECTIONS

Just Motherhood
This collection of poems about motherhood was originally put together for Andi’s children and Mom. Over many years, Andi wrote poems to try and capture how she was feeling and eventually pulled them all together and wrote a few new ones in celebration of motherhood to create this emotional and funny collection.

Just Words
Just Words contains many poems written over a decade or more, about love, despair and hope. An almost entirely autobiographical collection of poems, this book for adults really gets to the heart of what it is to be loved and experience heartbreak.
